Ross Farnworth Sacred Choral Music
And He Shall Be Called Jesus Christ
This is a short cantata that was originally composed in 1992 for the West Sacramento Ward choir. It is based on a few of the many Book of Mormon scriptures that testify of the divine mission of Jesus Christ. Although the cantata has gone through many changes over the past 20 years, the heart of the cantata, the scriptures from which all the words come, has not changed.
Included are options to use additional instruments. I believe the additional instruments enhance the sound. But the core of the cantata is the choir and the piano. If you click the title, it will open a PDF with only choir and piano. If you click on the "Conductor" button it will open a pdf that includes all the parts - choir, piano, violin, cello, trumpet and french horn. The "Instrument Parts" are included as the last pages of each "Conductor" pdf. The MP3 sound track provided includes all the instrumental parts.
If you decide to perform this cantata - would you please send me a note?
I also recently completed an orchestrated version that includes violin (I and II), viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, french horns, trumpet, trombone, tuba, and timpani. If you have access to an orchestra and would like to perform the cantata orchestrated, please let me know (via Contact Us). The orchestrated version has never been performed.
Thanks.
